E2EVC 2017 Tokyo

The Expert to Expert Virtualization Conference (E2EVC) was hold yesterday in Tokyo. After a great event in Sydney, I was excited to have this new experience. As already mentioned in my previous post, this conference is all about networking with peers from everywhere to talk about a global topic: virtualization. This edition was the first one in Japan and it was a real success. The different sessions were very interesting, as usual, but the better part was the discussion with […]

Today was the first day of the Expert to Expert Virtualization Conference (E2EVC) in Sydney, Australia. I try to attend this conference as often as possible but it was the very first time for me outside Europe. This conference is all about networking with peers from everywhere around a global topic: virtualization. This edition has been made possible by the usual sponsor (Citrix, ControlUp, NVIDIA, CensorNet and Parallels) and by Warren Simondson’s company: Ctrl-Alt-Del® IT Consultancy. I’d like to thanks […]

A bit more about Machine Tag Restriction

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Citrix

Like already said in a previous post, I’m very interested on this new feature in XenApp/XenDesktop 7.12. I’ve learned a bit more about it so here are my new inputs! First step: Create a tag! By right clicking on Delivery Group or a VDA you will be able to manage the Tags and create one. Second step: Configure Machine Tag Restriction In order to configure Machine Tag Restriction, you need to limit a desktop (or a published application) to a specific […]

XenDesktop 7.12 – Machine tag restrictions

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Citrix

I’ve been working on some large Xendesktop 7.x deployments up to 40 000 users and one of the main issue encountered with those large infrastructures was the lack of agility of the Delivery Groups. For example, one of them wanted to control its rollout applicative upgrades to production: First send the upgrade to some alpha users Start the rollout with a small part of the users Continue with half of the users End the rollout In order to accomplish this, […]

Director & WinRM : Sometimes size does matter!

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Citrix, Microsoft, Troubleshooting

As you may know, some features of Director rely on WinRM and you have to configure it following this article http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX125243. In large Active Directory environment, the user security token that is used to authenticate the user to the server may be larger than 16 KB. This can occur when a user is a member of many security groups. However, WinRM has a 16 KB size limit for HTTP authorization requests. Therefore, WinRM does not accept HTTP authorization requests that use […]

How to become a myCUGC leader!

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Citrix

Last Wednesday it was the first event of the French Citrix User Group Community. If I trust the different feedbacks, everyone enjoyed and asked for a new one: we are working on it! What I’d like to share here is my experience: becoming a “myCUGC” leader for the French group behind the scenes. We have been talking about creating something in France since almost the beginning of the CUGC program in May 2015. Talking is easy, implementing is another thing! […]

Retrieve admin rights on a XenDesktop site

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Citrix, Troubleshooting

During a site upgrade I forgot to add my admin account in the “Full Administrator” role… Before rolling back to the previous version, I’ve performed some tests and here is the result: Connect to SQL Server Retrieve an account with the correct role through the SQL query: SELECT Administrators.Sid FROM [DAS].[Rights] as Rights, [DAS].[Administrators] as Administrators, [DAS].[Roles] as Roles Where Rights.AdminId = Administrators.Id and Rights.RoleId = Roles.Id and Roles.Name = ‘Full Administrator’ Modify the SID find with the previous query or create a […]
